Journal post #7 and 9

Should artists be paid when they make songs about products?
Technically if the product makers do not ask artists to make songs about their products, then the makers do not have an obligation to pay the artist. Even with that said product makers should atleast aknowledge the artist for the song made about the product. They should also keep in mind that if their product wasn't sold that much before and sales increased due to a song than the artist should be paid for helping out. Songs in the media are very effective in the way they draw many youth customers attention.

"The more things change, the more they stay the same." How much has changed in advertising over the last ten years.
VS.

Looking at the clip done about 10 years ago or longer, not much has changed about how women are viewed. Some advertisements have two females on each other when they are advertising for jeans. The women are still made to look innocent, but flirtatious at the same time. There are some advertisements that do not objectify women, but we really have long way to go. The advertisements with men shown are the same old, they have no shirt on, with or without ads. The non-sexual advertisements are rarely shown, I think if they were shown more often some change would happen because sex is not the only thing that appeals to people attention. Sexual advertisments are the reason why many youth have kids at a young age. If advertisers really want to catch youths and adults attention they can use sports to advertise things because sports is very popular among everyone.
